Peach (GA) 45rpm Rockabilly Hillbilly Bop Gospel Instrumental Tittyshakers Teen R’N’R Doo-Wop Volume 1

Peach (GA) 45rpm Rockabilly Hillbilly Bop Gospel Instrumental Tittyshakers Teen R’N’R Doo-Wop

Locations :  P. O. Box 111 Jefferson, Georgia (1957)
Douglasville, Georgia (1959)
Cleaveland , Georgia (1960)
Louisville, Georgia (1962)
P.O. Box. 515 Nashville, Tennessee (1964)

Owners : Bradley L. “Slim” Williamson C.B.F. Young & Harold Riley

C.B.F. Young Owned a 78rpm Transcription Label called Peach In 1953 in Atlantic Georgia.

Peach Records was formed from the desire to help a local Georgia man fulfill his dream of making a record before he died from heart disese. In 1956 Bradley L. "Slim" Williamson was a DJ at WIMO in Winder, Georgia. Leon Holmes came to him with his story and Slim recorded him. He took the tapes to Don Pierce of Starday Records in Nashville. At that time Starday was issuing a series of records we know today as the "Starday Custom Series" or "Starday Package Deal" series. Starday manufactured and distributed the records with the client's imprint, thus, Peach Records was born. Slim released 7 singles through this arrangement. Early in 1959 Williamson, along with C.B.F. Young and Harold Riley formed Peach Records, Inc. in Douglasville, Ga. The records were cut at NRC Studios in Atlanta and the first 5 were pressed by RCA custom services. Afterwards and up until approximately 1964, the pressing was handled through NRC. Before setting up their own pressing plant, NRC used Sheldon and Rite.
At some point, probably in 1960 when Yonah Music publishing was established, I believe Williamson became the sole owner of Peach Records. Peach Records have been issued with Douglasville, Cleveland, Louisville, and Nashville as the location. Although I never asked Slim about this, I believe, aside from Douglasville, the places represented where Slim lived and worked at the time. He was a DJ at WRWH in Cleveland, GA in 1960 and before he moved to Nashville he lived and worked in Louisville, Ga. at WPEH which he owned.
In 1964 Slim Williamson and Ott Stephens purchased Chart Records from Gary Walker and moved to Nashville. After that Peach took a back seat. Less than 25 records were released on Peach between 1964 and 1974, it was basically relegated to the custom label service for one shots. Peach appears to have been sold along with Chart in 1974.

“After the Starday Custom Series deal was over, the record numbers began at 710 and ran consecutively thru 764, skipping numbers 721, 722, & 724 as they had been used with Starday. These were pressed by NRC & Sheldon.
The 500 Series began with number 565 and ended with 575 in 1964. These were pressed by Sound of Nashville.
Next was the 45-100 series......as far as I can tell there were only 5 releases in this series. 45-150, 45-155, 45-160, 45-165, and 45-170. I have identified all but 45-165. These were in 1965 and also pressed by Sound Of Nashville.
It would appear none were released in 1966 and part of 1967.
In 1967 we come back to the 700 series. These share the matrix numbers with the other Chart company releases, i.e. the SW-xx matrices and also share the release numbers being by "5's", i.e. 700, 705, 710, etc. and run from 700 thru 730, although there may be up to 3 or 4 more (735, 740, & 745) (Slim seemed to like groups of 5 & 10). Thus far I have only identified 700, 725, and 730. No idea who pressed them as Chart used a variety of pressers.
1968 brings a return to the 500 series...the P500 series, that is. I have identified P501, P502, and P503. All by Charlie Kellogg. It would seem reasonable to me that there were at least 2 more given Slims penchant to group these thing in 5's or 10's. These were pressed by Precision Record Press (PRP).
It would appear few to none were released in 1969 & 1970.
It's now 1971 and we start the 500 series all over again. This time it's the PE-500 series. This group starts at PE-501 and goes thru PE-510. At least I haven't located any above PE-510. It certainly doesn't mean there aren't any. I believe these were all done in 1971 & 1972 after the formation of Better Sounds, Inc and the buy back of Chart Records from Audio Fidelity. Audio Fidelity bought Chart in early 1969 from Slim, and sold it back to Slim in late 1971. Again, no idea on the pressing company. They used Mid-South, Southern Plastics, and I think Sims at various times. Probably others as well.
1974 & 1975 has at least 4 releases....PE-00050 & PE-0051 and 1801 & 1802.....the PE series I think must have been done by the Wordens, the 1800 series I think by the group after them but I'm only speculating on these.” Banjo800

Note (SCP) on Peach 656 & 748 Pete Hardin is a different label, from Louisiana.
