The Reason For This Blog

The reason for this blog

I wanted to help other R'N'R Rockabilly collectors with information on records labels.  I'm always happy to help if I can.

This blog is a database of Record Labels I have collected over the years.

I do not own every record on every label.

I collect 1950's Style Rockabilly & Guitar Piano R'N'R. I edge on the Country side of R'n'R mostly southern labels like Sun (TN) Although this blog features also sorts of root music, that I want to share.

I realised many years ago that my collection of vinyl had big gaps of tracks on many labels. Music that I did not own and had never heard.

I always wondered what this music was. Could there be more unknown Killer Rockers & Boppers out there. So the research began.

When I retired I needed a hobby, so this blog became my thing to do in the day. I started just doing a label I had the majority of tracks on. Smaller unknown labels to most music fans.

The idea was to help spread good unknown Rockabilly / R'NR music and maybe introduce them to new people.

The R'N'R clubs I go to, tend to play the same artist & tracks with nothing new to my ears. Hardly any Dj's play real solid 1950's R'N'R or Rockabilly anymore. Let alone obscure Rockers. Most clubs just play 1950's pop Teen style R'N'R jivers & strollers. Safe stuff for the jive school brigade, but I go to keep the numbers up & the clubs open.

Then the requests to do a certain label came in, some of these were bigger labels than I had ever considered attempting, but as long as there was at least one Killer Rocker / Rockabilly on the label, I gave it a go. Some of the bigger labels are over several volumes so that it is easier for everyone to download. Many are split into series featured on that label and their subsidiaries for completeness.

The blog now takes so much time that my wife is helping. Several hours every day, just answering emails, comments, put new lists together and finding the music. This has made me many new contacts and filled many gaps in my own knowledge.

Record Collectors are a funny bunch. Some flash a glimpse of a rare 45 / 78rpm record, but don't play it, as some sort of bragging right. Others love to share their knowledge. If you are the latter, thank you for your help.

As time moved on I started getting help with the missing tracks and labels from many other record collectors. You can click on my profile picture to email me any missing tracks or missing label you have in your collection. It all helps complete and save that label.

If you click the GET (Record Label Name) HERE after each track list you can download the music I have.

If the track has missing I do not have it.

If the track has need label I have never seen a label to prove it was ever made. Sometimes artist and A and B side titles were allocated but not pressed by labels. Some are 78rpm or 45rpm only.

If the track says unconfirmed  I have no knowledge of that issue number ever being used.

Aladdin volume 4 only had 4 tracks with music. . The next Aladdin Volume will have all the tracks. Yes 100 A & B sides for free. Some sides are just not on cd's to download from the many cd blogs out there. You have to own a vinyl copy and take the time to convert it and clean it up before you can post, that takes time and effort. Again big, big thanks to the collectors who email me these rare tracks.

So the question is, do I go back to only doing small labels that are Rockabilly based only and I have all the tracks? Shut the blog down and go drinking and watching football again? Or continue to share requested labels where I have a lot of tracks missing, that other collectors send in, or post on Youtube for me to fill the gaps at a later date. Check out the "missing now found" volumes for these.

Re-ups of dead links

This is taking longer than normal because my main hard drive and my back up hard drive failed the same day.  It was a softwear clash that deleted all my music. I managed to recover over 500,000 files.  Many are copies of the same track. Also the tags now say "Lost File" the artist name has gone and the song title has gone. I am slowly adding these back to rebuild my database.

This means we intend finishing the labels that are already started, before doing any re-up requests. If you just need a few tracks on a dead label link feel free to email me and I will try to recover them from my lost files to email them back.

All dead labels will get a re-up at some point. These will be updated with any better bitrates and missing  tracks plus any better labels shots we find. Not just a a straight re-up of the previous post. Again this takes a lot of time to compile. Thank you for your patience.

Mistakes

If you spot an error, please let me know. I do not get it right every time. I'm human, I make mistakes like everybody else. I may have used an alt version of a cd by mistake or a version cut for another label. Again any email with corrections are more than welcome.
