Outside of the classic Shirelles early sides, Scepter became a better label with its soul issues.

Florence Greenberg seemed to be unable to nurture more than one major artist at a time: The Shirelles, then Dionne Warwick, and then BJ Thomas. But it was a well-run label overall, and it lasted a long time until independent distribution dried up.
ReplyDeletePity that Scepter preferred the bland Dionne Warwick which seems to have taken took preference over the Imps.
