Skip was born May 5, 1938, in Wellington, Mo., to Stephen and Lula (Bierbaum) Frazee. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1955 and Missouri Valley College in 1959 with degrees in mathematics and physics. Skip enjoyed a career in the audio field. During his high school and college days, he hosted a Sunday afternoon Big Band music show on KMMO, “Swinging with Skip.” Throughout the 50s, he operated Jan Studios, a recording studio in downtown Marshall.
Skip moved to Orlando, Memphis and Dallas, managing recording studios and teaching with the Recording Institute of America. He ventured into motion pictures and enjoyed a lengthy career as an on-location sound mixer for feature films, TV shows, and commercials. In later years, Skip conducted forensic audio analysis and recovery consulting for law enforcement.
