From my observations, the Fame label was rather owned by the Melody Masters (Jimmy Heap in person) but I could be wrong. Many of the artists, incl. Dale McBride, Wild Bill Taylor and William Bill (Glen)Denning, were members of the band at one time. Could be wrong, though.

I got Bill McDonough from American Record label Directory & dating Guide ARLD 1940 - 1959 But Put A ? next to it as I thought it may be wrong, Unless Heap ran the label & McDonough was a Part owner?

See Billboard clip above from 1959 Bill McDonough was something to do with Fame maybe Money Man local DJ promotion A& R ?
DeleteOh, I overlooked that Billboard snippet. Very interesting! The Texas State Historical Association mentions that Fame was the band's own label: "Heap and the band left the label [Capitol) in 1956. Perk Williams left the band less than a year later. In the following years, they recorded on the band’s own labels—mainly the Fame, Big Band, and Splash labels."
