I follow you since years and i'm glad with it
I have a lot of respect for the work you do
But why are you always reconverting identical files from the past?
Do you think they become better?
You must know each conversion is a loss of dots, I have tried it enough even converting in @flac and there is a loss of gain, I speak only pure converting without specs
Example in this file Audicon:
track dance of the silhouettes (megatrons) i have uploaded it in Januar 2017 in @192k, you reposted the same file @192 in June 2022 and now you repost the same file in @320, and no doubt it's the same file
Results file from 2017=gain was -5,22 db after conversion in @320 the the gain is down to -5,18
You do so much work to find the files and thank you for it, but afterwards you break all that work

I have not reconverted any files. The 320 came off a CD I was sent. Most upgrades in bitrate are sent to me from followers. So as normal a CD company taking a 128 youtube video & upgrading to 320 then selling like its their own rip. The link for this label was dead. I found a few missing tracks, so it seemed right time to re-up the whole label. Bitrate is of no interest to me just the sound. But I try to use the best copies I have. I'm always happy to be sent missing tracks what ever the bitrate.
DeleteI should add The only files I have been sent that I alter in bitrate are Flac & Wav Aiff etc. Only because I can not get them to show the artwork off the original 45 label, I have prepared in preview. I use Switch Sound File converter for mac to make them 320 Mp3. I prefer the sound on Flac. But the blog is not only about the music but saving the original 45 78 labels. Also with a 8TB hard drive I still would not have the space for all my files if they were all Flac. I rely a lot on other collectors sending me files. I have no control on if the bitrate has been changed. Most of my original burns way back when were 128 due to small hardrives.

But the track you are on about I did not alter. It was another version taken off a cd that was 320 that I was sent. I did not alter it. I never alter bit rates. The same as the 192 in June 2022 it was another version I found on my hard drive, that I had downloaded from the net. I do not have the time or the soft wear to find out if they have been altered by anybody who sent them to me. Or to check if there the same version i have posted already & been upgraded by someone else. I just post the best bitrate as stated in the file, that I have, when doing a re-up. I get complaints for not posting 320! now when I post 320 I get complaints that they are not real 320! I do not care, I carry on posting lost music. Any bit rate is better than no music. As you have the softwear to check this, If you like I could send you all the copies of every mp3 File I have . Some tracks I have 50 copies of. When my hard drive crashed I recovered over 500,000 tracks. Then you could send back the real 320 version for me to post. Just click my email top right. Then you can send me where to send the hard drive to. Once you have gone through them you can just post it back to me. Take about 10 years to sort. But at least I'll know the bitrate has not been upgraded for a poorer sound.
