ReplyDeleteDave from Ardmore asks: How did ABC-Paramount survive its beginnings? I have never heard so many mediocre songs from a label that later gave the world many memorable jazz albums. Or am I thinking of a different ABC? In any case, please rescure my respect for this label ASAP. And thank you for giving so many small record companies a chance to shine. Yes, Gorme is in the mix. But she is almost smothered by the other releases. Even their best artists were given junk material.
ReplyDeleteYep whenI cover a label 45rpm issues, you get the Good The Bad & The Ugly. But I hope you at least heard something new or forgotten. I've always thought of ABC being a Teen R'N'R Teen Pop label with the odd Doo-wop or Rockabilly Rocker. Away next few days but working on next volume.
