By 1953 Savoy realised that the record buying Teenagers, did not want to listen to uncool old self indulgent drunk junkie Jazz musicians, who just played as fast as they could. They had the cash & wanted less sitting in low ceiling smoke filled cellars to Be-Bop & more dancing on sprung dance floors to Rockin’ sounds. Savoy had differed into the 45rpm market issuing some 78’s on 45 but not all. Now they went full pelt into 45rpm records with the new 1100 series, mixing Jazz with R&B.
